About Us

A Shop Full of Lancaster County Handmade Goodness.

Boxwood & Mum is a shop inspired by our Dad. He loved his family well, and showed us that love in many ways. One of those ways was in creating handmade items for his family. He liked to surprise us with personalized leather zipper pulls, hand-carved wooden crosses and even hand-stitched leather moccasin slippers. Like our Dad, we love all parts of the hand-made process.  We love experimenting and coming up with new useful ideas. We feel gratified when we see people enjoying the things we design and create.

At Boxwood & Mum, you will find both products we have designed and made in addition to handmade items found local to our home in Lancaster County, PA.

We enjoy "treasure hunting" off back roads in the heart of Lancaster County farmland to bring to our shop quality products made from the most hard-working and friendly Amish makers.  They welcome us into their shops to see their processes and we swap business ideas and also talk family. They've become friends along this small-business journey. If you could meet them, we are confident you would love that your purchases from Boxwood & Mum support such kind, hard-working, quality makers.

As with all pieces made from natural materials like wood and leather, Boxwood & Mum product colors and markings vary slightly as each piece is individually handmade – no two pieces are exactly the same. We hope you enjoy the natural beauty represented in each item.

Your shopping makes a difference! In addition to supporting small and local makers, your purchase helps a special cause. A portion of each purchase from Boxwood & Mum is given to North Star Initiative, a non-profit organization both rescuing women from human trafficking and providing a restorative home in support of their journey to freedom.
